“As
a city bookstore, our collection appeals to professionals, travelers,
and students. Our logo feels as fresh and original today as it did when
we opened in 1982. To get off the ground looking like a bigger store really
helped us to become one!” Ellen Sandmeyer owner, Sandmeyers Bookstore, Chicago |

Because
customers are bombarded visually, most messages are forgotten. It is hard to stand out! Especially in competitive retail bookselling. Capturing the feeling of the urban landscape, the Sandmeyer logo uses book spine forms to sug- gest buildings, then reflected (as Chicago is reflected in Lake Michigan) below. The image works great at every scale, from large on signage to small on business cards to rough on web sites. It displays quality, distinction and longevity. |
